RCB is a franchise cricket team based in Bangalore that plays in the Indian Premier League. The team Royal Challengers Bangalore was also founded in 2008. The skipper of RCB was Anil Kumble, but this year Virat Kohli will be playing the role of skipper of RCB team who is at present playing a role of Vice Captain of Indian cricket team.
The franchise is owned by Vijay Malya. RCB has not won any title of IPL tournament but entered in the semis/play-off’s every season apart from 2008 and 2012. The group paid a total of US$111.6 million for it which is the second highest bid for a team in the IPL, next only to Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries’ bid of $111.9 million for the Mumbai team during the auction of franchise in 2008.
